South Dakota Housing is inviting developers to submit applications for funding from the Housing Opportunity Fund (HOF) program. This open funding round is a chance for developers to make their projects happen.
This funding round is focused specifically on housing development. Eligible activities include new construction, rehabilitation, or acquisition with rehab for both rental and homeownership projects. If you’ve been trying to make a deal pencil or move a project forward, HOF may be a good fit.
A wide range of applicants are eligible, including for-profit or nonprofit developers, tribal governments, housing authorities, political subdivisions or other South Dakota-based entities..
Applications open April 15 and will be accepted through August 31 at 5:00 p.m. CT. Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis as long as funding remains available. Applications must be complete for consideration, so getting materials organized and submitted early is recommended. Only applications for housing development will be accepted during this open application cycle. Applications for programs will be accepted during the competitive application cycle in August.
You can find the application, program details, and funding limits on the SD Housing website at www.sdhousing.org. If you’re unsure whether your project qualifies or want to talk through an idea, reach out to Bridgette Loesch at 605.773.3181 or bridgette@sdhda.org.
If you’re working on a project that could add housing in your community, this is a great opportunity to take a closer look at the Housing Opportunity Fund.
